Jika
ditelaah, D300 adalah versi ekonomis dari D3. Perbedaan yang sangat
signifikan hanya terletak pada format image sensor yang digunakan. D3
menggunakan sensor full frame (FX) dan D300 menggunakan sensor DX. Mari
kita tinjau kesamaan kedua kamera ini.

D3 dan D300 memiliki
image sensor beresolusi 12 Mp dan menggunakan layar 3 inci dengan
resolusi 922.000 pixel. AF point keduanya berjumlah 51 titik dengan
teknologi yang sama. Live View tersedia pada keduanya. Dust cleaning
system dapat ditemui pada kedua kamera tersebut. Sama seperti
pendahulunya, D300 dan D3 sama-sama terlindung dari debu dan percikan
